If you are visiting Hakodate this summer, maybe check out Hakodate on your smart phone....and find a walking/speaking guide link...and choose "English"...and you might recognise the voice!
I spent 2 and a half hours in a recording studio this week to record short introductions and history background of famous sightseeing spots.
The recording gave me a few headaches....Takuboku (Ishikawa)...Mashumaru....AND! the studio heater was too noisy...so the staff turned it off...and I sat with a hot water bottle on my knees :-)
NHK will be selling the program overseas, so all the Japanese has to be in English.
The actual narration words were not so hard, but this was closer to dubbing for an on-screen speaker - so the timing had to be close.
In the recording booth I had a TV and could see the speaker, so I tried to match their mood and pace of speaking.
Of course...using my special "old" voice!
It's funny to think that maybe my friends in other countries will be able to hear me...on a Japanese TV show that is shown on their TV!
