We are hoping that it will show at L Plaza, just north of Sapporo Station, on Sunday, November 4th. Maybe 2 showings: 6.15 pm and 8 pm. Tickets at Y1,000.
Imagine students, friends, and people I met for the first time - we all got together and gave our time as volunteers to this project to give the film English subtitles. It was the first time any of us had done this kind of translating and editing.
The film is a very moving documentary about the mothers, fathers, kids and dogs of Fukushima following the events of 2011 and after. Director Taizo Yoshida, who lives in Maruyama, visited Tohoku many times as a volunteer and decided to interview and film the people he met.
The result is a wonderful, gentle look at ordinary people living their lives in extra-ordinary times.
The team of translators of course are invited to see the results of their work - for free, and I hope that many other people will come along and pay Y1,000 and see the film.
Information about showing times and tickets to come soon.
Here is the website about the film.
