Life in the other blog has been busy and tiring, and I've also been busy with my Japanese studies!
Yes - I am trying to write and remember kanji, and I am keeping a diary in Japanese and try to read a children's book too.
My head hurts with all this study!
Being a student is very interesting. Specially an old student...
I really think reading helps language development. It is slow, but reading aloud and copying out words - then reading TO someone is a great way to absorb vocabulary and structure.
At Imagine I have many easy English books, you can borrow them for a few weeks and try!
One student at the moment is copying one of the books into her notebook and checking the meanings of words. In class she and I read the book aloud.
Apart from stressful home life and study - recently I did a video narration job for a Japanese truck making company. The video was for the Middle East and Africa, teaching truck drivers how to use the trucks safely and economically - all about brake and clutch control, cornering and slopes. I think the video was filmed in Hokkaido, the road scenes looked familiar!
Oh, the picture? That is Ishikari Beach. Last weekend I went there for a walk and a sit in the sunshine. It was hot and windy, very beautiful. Japanese people only go to beaches in summer - but I like to go out of season for a relaxing, quiet time.
* Autumn IS here, yesterday in Imagine I put away the electric fan and took out the small heater!
