In the past week TWO ambulances have been in my life!! Two!
Last week my mother in law fell in the kitchen and injured her back. My partner called for an ambulance and she was taken to hospital. She has broken a bone in her back (compressed fracture) and needs to stay in hospital for 2 weeks or more. We are hospital visiting now.
And then. On Tuesday I was coming back from Shin-Sapporo. I saw a man lying on the ground in an apartment parking area! I did a U-turn and stopped. Ran to him.
He was breathing, but not speaking. His hands were dirty and had blood on them, and one leg was at a strange angle.
I grabbed my smartphone. But in my panic I couldn't remember the correct emergency number. In the Uk it is 999. Luckily a Japanese woman walked nearby, I asked her for help. I called the emergency services for an ambulance - she tried to talk to the man.
We waited together with him and 4 minutes later an ambulance arrived. Then we left.
I don't know what happened to him. But one of the windows in the apartment was open, and then safety bar was not straight. Did he fall from the window????
I was shocked! Just to find another person lying on the ground with injuries. When the emergency staff asked for the apartment address there was a roadsign in front of me, so I knew what part of Hiragishi it was. But I couldn't read all the kanji in the apartment name....
Bad luck comes in 3's? I've had two ambulances now in 6 days.....I hope there isn't another.
