HAFU is about people who are mixed race in Japan. Maybe one of their parents is non-Japanese, or maybe they were born in another country.
It's a film which looks at that eternal question: "Who AM I?"
I first heard about this film 3 years ago on Facebook. A friend in Tokyo knows the directors and they were looking for donations to help the filming. I donated Y10,000 because I thought it was an interesting project.
Then the film had two screenings at a university and a school in Sapporo.
I tried to promote the film to Theater Kino last year, printing out the info about it and asking the theater to book it for screenings. But Theater Kino didn't seem interested.
I have arranged screenings myself!
A little scary.
I've booked a room at L-PLaza, near Sapporo Station and I have made flyers and tickets. I've rented a copy of the film from the distributors.
The room can sit about 50-60 people - so get your tickets soon! Already English teachers and church members have started buying tickets. Tickets are Y1,000 for adults and Y500 for students.
Here is more information about the film.
