Today Britain votes in the referendum on staying or leaving the European Union. Millions of people will go to their local school or community center and vote "Yes" or "No".
I can't vote. After 10 years living outside Britain I lose my election and referendum voting rights. And , no - Japan doesn't GIVE me voting rights either. I have no voting rights anywhere. But I pay taxes to Japan....
If I could vote I would choose for Britain to stay in the EU. I don't think the EU is perfect at all, but I feel it is better to try and change it from within. I don't really understand the financial/economic/business reasons For/Against - but my attitude is wider - that the small island off the north-east coast of Europe would be stronger connected to Europe.
The result will probably be known tomorrow lunchtime in Japan and I will be checking the news between classes to find out!
And at 6 pm I'll be checking my e-mail to see if I have successfully bought tickets for the Queen and Adam Lambert concert in Tokyo in September!! That is also very important to me tomorrow.
