Just been to Kyoto for 3 days, to enjoy a holiday in Japan - with shrines, sunshine, maiko-dressing up and tourist time.
I stayed in a hotel one night, and with a Japanese Couch Surfing host for 2 nights.
Beautiful weather! I walked the Philosopher's Path, the Nishiki Market and Arashiyama - and of course, down into Gion I tried the maiko dressing up experience with walking and rickshaw ride.
All fun. I thought Kyoto was a beautiful city, with lots of help for foreign visitors. It was strange for me to see so many foreigners! I even joined the Imperial Palace tour (but thought THAT was not so interesting).
