In England we don't really have a season when everyone starts work - companies take on new staff when they need them, so people change jobs and start new jobs at different times.
I graduated from journalism college in the summer and then in September (maybe!) I started my first job at a weekly newspaper called the Surrey Advertiser.
I was the junior reporter and my early jobs were typing reports from local societies and agricultural shows, going to village meetings, the town court, charity events etc. We actually used TYPEWRITERS!
I found this old picture, maybe dated around 1984. The editor (old man in the center) and the newspaper production team....with a young girl reporter...can you find me?
