This weekend we went skiing at Niseko and on Sunday I fell. My hand and the stock and the ground all hit eachother.
My right thumb started hurting and swelling.
Came back to Sapporo, with more pain and swelling.
Yesterday I went to the doctor. It took hours! So sorry to 4 pm and 5 pm students - I couldn't get back to Imagine in time for classes and had to cancel. The hospital took a loooong time.
I have a tear in my Ulnar Collateral Ligament in my right thumb. The nickname is a "Skier's Thumb" or a "Goal Keeper's Thumb"....because it is a common injury for people who stretch their hands in the wrong direction....
I have pain killers and cold compresses. Have to wait 2-3 weeks. Try not to strain the ligaments.
Some actions are painful: holding a coffee cup, putting on my jeans, turning a key in a lock, brushing my hair.
Typing on a keyboard is ok, but writing on a whiteboard is so-so...and writing with a pen is worse. I'm sorry if my handwriting is even harder to read in the next few weeks!
