About 4 million people can vote. Already Scotland has different policies on education/ environment/health and other issues. The Scottish Parliament was created after a referendum in 1997.
But now? It could be full independence.
What do I think?
My heart says "Yes" - I think Scottish people would be so proud to be 100% in control of their own lives. Decisions made in London, would be better made by people in Scotland.
But my head says No", mainly for economic reasons - I feel the country will be poorer if it separates from the UK, even though Scotland will probably, eventually negotiate to control many of the oil reserves in the North Sea.
My family has a little Scottish blood, on my mother's side, and I have Scottish friends - I know how proud they are to BE Scottish. In Japan I think the similar feeling exists in people in Okinawa. Decisions made in Tokyo are a long, long way from life and opinions in Okinawa.
So, what will the people of Scotland decide today?
I will be watching the news early tomorrow morning in Japan!
