Yesterday I went to Kokusai and enjoyed 3 hours of sunshine and great snow.
The ticket line was very long, because I arrived just at the same time as the buses. But after I got my ticket I was out on the courses and enjoying the snow and the views.
From the top I could see Otaru!
In Japanese we say "ski-jo" - as in Kokusai Ski Jo. Some students ask me if "jo" is "resort" or "hill" in English.
Really in English we don't say anything after the name of the ski place: "I went to Meribel/Steamboat/Mammoth".
"Resort" means a place with hotels, restaurants and shops. Probably owned by one company. In Hokkaido that would be Kiroro, Rutsutsu or Sahoro.
If you really need a word for "jo", you could say "area".
Happy and safe skiing this season everyone.
