A few weeks ago I went to the Morning Market to report for an online TV program made by NHK World. "J-Trip Plan", hosted by Thane Camus and Amy Ota.
Today was interview day...by computer from my home in Sapporo to the TV studio...in Tokyo?? Osaka? I'm not sure.
They sent me an i-pad and Wifi booster, and the script, based on my report to the show's writer, and then I had to prepare my computer room at home and practice trying to say the words while looking naturally at the i-pad camera - NOT at the i-pad screen itself.
It was great to see my own photographs and video on the program. But I'm not so sure my performance was so great...
It took a lot of time to prepare for just 4 minutes of interview. The visit, the reporting, the writing, the photo editing, the technology of the recording, haircut, room tidy...cat control...
Of course there was a big earthquake during the afternoon, and the Internet lines were weakened. So the producers asked me to start the recording 45 mins early. I lost practice time.:-(
This program is in English and it is for foreigners who are interested in Japan. You can see the program next month on the Internet. Check here for more information!
